We take your privacy seriously and aim to handle your personal data in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What this policy covers
This policy explains, in simple terms, what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. It applies when you visit our website, contact us, or attend our events.
Who we are
Solent Fetish Meets (SFM) is a community‑run fetish social based in the Solent area, currently homed in Southsea at Bobby’s Lounge. We run social events only and do not sell physical goods or provide delivery services.
What data we collect
We only collect the information we need to run the website and our events safely and responsibly, for example:
• Your name or nickname
• Your email address and, if you choose to give it, a phone number or social handle
• Details you include when you contact us (for example questions, feedback or accessibility needs)
• Basic technical information when you visit the site (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) to keep the site secure and understand how it is used
We do not ask you to give us explicit details of your kinks or sexual preferences. If you choose to share that kind of information with us, we treat it as sensitive and keep it as private as we reasonably can.
Payments and ticketing
We do not take payments directly through this website. All ticket sales for our events are handled by TicketSource (or another external ticketing provider) using their own systems and payment processors.
When you buy a ticket, your payment details are processed by TicketSource and/or their payment partners, not by us. We do not receive or store your full card details. We may receive limited information from TicketSource, such as your name, contact details and which event you have booked for, so that we can manage attendance and contact you about that event.
Legal reasons we use your data
We only use your personal data when we have a lawful reason to do so under UK data protection law. For SFM this is usually:
• Your consent – for example when you contact us or ask to receive updates
• Our legitimate interests – to run and promote SFM, manage events, keep our community safe and maintain the website
• Legal obligations – where we must keep or share information to comply with the law (for example if requested by law enforcement with proper authority)
How we share and protect your data
We may share your data with trusted service providers who help us run the website, email services or event management, with venues where needed for safety or access, and with authorities if the law requires it or to protect someone’s vital interests.
Because SFM is a fetish social, simply being associated with us may reveal information about your sexual life or orientation. We treat this with extra care, limit who can see your details, and do not disclose your involvement with SFM without a clear reason and, where possible, your consent, unless we are legally required to do so.
We take reasonable steps to keep your data secure, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information sent over the internet.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as we reasonably need it, for example:
• Contact emails – for as long as needed to deal with your query and a short time afterwards
• Event‑related information – for the duration of the event and a reasonable period afterwards for safety, incident handling or record‑keeping
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
• Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances
• Ask us to limit how we use your data
• Object to certain types of use, including direct marketing
• Withdraw consent where we rely on it
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about this policy, please contact us at solentfetishmeets@gmail.com.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk/ if you are unhappy with how we handle your data. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns first, so please contact us if you have any issues.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Effective Date at the top shows when it was last updated.
